Jakob Dütsch, Tägerwilen

Jakob Dütsch’s farm lies on a hill, with an amazing view of the lake.  The beauty of this majestic, well-tended estate distracts one from its rigorous daily routine.  Jakob Dütsch farms his 5 hectares himself, with two seasonal workers from Poland as his only help – his wife can no longer help him, since becoming a paraplegic.  Since 1957, Dütsch has been growing carrots, celeriac, beets, fennel and white cabbage, and all in accordance with the certified NOP program.  “In spite of hard work and the harsh hand of fate, I enjoy my life as an organic vegetable farmer on our beautiful estate.”
